What is commercial ozone laundry?
The ozone laundry system is a brand-new commercial laundry method. It works by injecting ozone into water to form ozonated water with strong oxidizing properties, which is then used for washing.
Compared to traditional detergent-based washing and hot water/disinfectant-based sterilization, ozone washing is gentler, more cost-effective, and more effective. Utilizing its strong oxidizing properties, ozone can react with organic stains and organic compounds to produce carbon dioxide and water. When ozone comes into contact with bacteria and pathogens, it damages the cell membranes, enzymes, and genetic systems of these pathogens, causing their death.
The entire process of ozone’s action is completed in cold water, with a sterilization rate reaching 99.9%, and this bactericidal effect is almost instantaneous.
How does it work?
Depending on the scale of the laundry operation, small-scale commercial laundry facilities typically use the corona discharge air method to generate ozone. When air enters the ozone generator, it undergoes high-voltage electrolysis to break down into oxygen atoms. These oxygen atoms then combine with free oxygen molecules to form ozone, which is injected into the water.
Large-scale commercial laundry facilities use both the corona discharge air method and the electrolyzed water method to produce ozone. The electrolyzed water method relies on upper and lower positive and negative electrodes to generate high voltage. As water passes through the electrodes, water molecules are electrolyzed into hydrogen (H) atoms and oxygen (O) atoms, with the oxygen atoms combining to form ozone.
The oxidizing action of ozone is entirely carried out by these oxygen atoms. Some oxygen atoms react with stains, pathogens, chemicals, and other substances, being consumed in the process to achieve oxidation. The remaining oxygen atoms detach from the oxygen and recombine back into oxygen molecules to enter the atmosphere. Since no other harmful by-products are generated during this entire process, this cost-effective and environmentally friendly laundry method has been favored by business owners and municipal authorities.
